Built on a plateau high above the meandering Chavon River and modeled after a 16-century Mediterranean village, this cultural center is home to artists’ studios, craft workshops, art galleries, restaurants and boutiques concealed behind coral stone buildings. Along winding cobblestone streets, be a part of classes taught by international painters, designers, and writers teach their craft as a part of an “Artists in Residence” program at the Interim Classes taught at Chavon each January and during the summer months. Guests of Casa de Campo have a unique opportunity to mingle with artisans while visiting Altos de Chavon. Under the direction of noted artist and designer Emilio Robba, artisans create works of art in pottery and tapestries. Guests are invited to visit the workshops, see the artisans in action as well as purchase handmade treasures in the Studios by Emilio Robba.
