Following the multi-million dollar redevelopment, Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre is one of regional Queensland's premier entertainment venues, attracting new entertainment, conferences and events never before seen in the region. Expansion has seen the addition of a new multi-use convention and event floor space that has increased the venue's capacity to 1,500 and allows it to host larger and higher-profile events and concerts. New Flat floor spaces complement the centre's existing theatre, which seats 674 people, allowing the entertainment centre to host multiple events at any one time. The auditorium has also undergone a major refurbishment with upgrades to seating, lighting and acoustics. The car park extension has provided three new levels of car parking adding undercover parking in the Gladstone CBD. Three new elevators also provide improved access to the GECC through a second entry lobby directly off the car park. GECC's new kitchen facilities offer the latest technology in banquet catering to deliver hundreds of meals, cooked to perfection in minutes. Additional conference rooms have been added which can be configured to provide multiple spaces to host breakouts, workshops, seminars and meetings. Each space is completed with the most up to date electronic, video and data displays, coupled with fibre optic and wireless internet connectivity. The new Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre delivers on its designer's attention to detail to provide the city with a venue that will perform well into the future.

The quickest route to Gladstone is of course, by air. Jump aboard one of the many daily QantasLink and Virgin Airlines flights for a quick 50min trip between Gladstone and Brisbane. The Gladstone Airport is also the departure point for aerial services to Heron and Wilson Islands. In addition, Thangool Airport, near Biloela, operates daily QantasLink flights to Brisbane. There is always something happening at the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre, situated in the heart of Gladstone! The newly redeveloped facility is one of regional Queensland's premier entertainment venues, attracting new entertainment, conferences and events never before seen in the region. The recent expansion has seen the addition of a new multi-use convention and event floor space that will increase the venue's capacity to 1,500 standing and allow it to host larger and higher-profile events and concerts. New flat floor spaces complement the centre's existing auditorium, which seats 674 people, allowing the entertainment centre to host multiple events at any one time. Additional conference rooms have been added which can be configured to provide multiple spaces to host workshops, seminars and meetings. Each space is completed with the most up to date electronic, video and data displays, coupled with fibre optic and wireless internet connectivity. Providing further event space the silk lined air-conditioned Marquee returns to its hardstand where it will be ready to host dinners, trade shows and functions.

NRG Gladstone Power Station

Queensland's largest Power Station, with a generating capacity of 1680 megawatts was sited to take advantage of seawater for cooling and to be near Central Queensland's vast coal reserves. Approximately 11000 tonnes of coal are used each day in the production of electricity, with most of it being sold to Boyne Smelters Ltd under a long-term agreement. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No cameras or still cameras permitted on site. Sturdy enclosed shoes must be worn. Tours last approximately one and a half hours and depart at 1pm every Monday from the Gladstone Visitor Information Centre.

Gladstone Regionall Gallery and Museum

The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum was established in 1985 and is a community cultural initiative funded by the Gladstone Regional Council. It is dedicated to promoting art and heritage for and by the communities of the Gladstone Region and Central Queensland, acting as a focal point for the preservation and display of the region's history and cultural heritage. Housed in the heritage listed old Gladstone Town Hall, the current Gallery/Museum buildings are linked by a glass bridge walkway, purpose-built to accommodate the nineteenth century marble statue of the Region's namesake, William Ewart Gladstone. The Gallery/Museum houses an extensive collection of local history objects and resources. Early Beginnings - The Discovery of Port Curtis provides you with useful contextual information to complement viewing their collection.

Gladstone Maritime Museum focusses its collection on maritime history of the Gladstone Region. Visit to view history from prior to Captain Cook up to modern times. Special features include the shipwreck wall, Jenny Lind figurehead and a library. Naval and sailing ship models are of interest.

Boyne Valley Historical Society

The Boyne Valley Historical Society Cottage was opened in 1988 and was formed by a group of enthusiastic volunteers with a desire to preserve the vast history of the Boyne Valley, which dates back to the 1870s, when gold and copper mining put the Valley on the map, followed by the settlers who pioneered industries such as cattle grazing, farm produce, dairying and a thriving timber and saw-milling industry, which still exists today. Tourists who want to leave the usual tourist trail and enjoy some genuine country hospitality and historically significant sites should make sure they put the Boyne Valley on their itinerary. With the exception of Many Peaks, the four small towns of the Boyne Valley, Nagoorin, Ubobo, Builyan and Many Peaks, are dotted along the Boyne River. The scenic drive along the newly sealed road from Calliope, or across the Blackman's Gap Road (some dirt) from Miriam Vale, takes less than an hour. The cottage houses a large display of photographs and memorabilia which convey a sense of bygone days. Special theme days allow them to vary the displays and feature items from the collections of long term residents and interested parties.

Calliope River Historical Village

The Calliope River Historical Village is a true heritage experience which has captured and preserved some of the original buildings from around the Gladstone Region. Come and spend some time looking at unique and interesting displays, including the Calliope River Railway facility which includes a Queensland Rail coach, two camp wagons and the Yarwun station. Take a drip down memory lane in the Raglan Dance Hall, or visit the country Markets which are held on site, with stall holders from as far away as the Gold Coast selling their wares. The museum and tours operate daily at a small cost.

East Shores Precinct

The East Shores Precinct is Gladstone's newest place to play! Whether you'd like to walk the dog, have a picnic on the grass, enjoy the views from the top of Auckland Point Hill, East Shores has it all! The precinct spans along Flinders Parade and includes a water play park, waterfront boardwalk incorporating a viewing platform, barbecues and an abundance of green, open space to play. The water play park is open from 9am till 9pm during the hotter months (and till 6pm in the cooler months). Provided by Gladstone Ports Corporation, East shores is a world-class recreational precinct for Gladstone residents and visitors of all ages to meet, relax, exercise and enjoy the foreshore area.

Blue Pools

The Blue Pools is a popular snorkelling spot at Heron Island, but is also a wonderful place to dive. While snorkellers generally limited themselves to the sheltered cove in the reef, divers are free to explore the sloping coral reef and numerous gutters, ledges and caves. Going no deeper than 15 metres divers will find the Blue Pools alive with fish life, including anemonefish, triggerfish, sweetlips, snappers, butterflyfish and schools of hussars. This site also has pretty hard corals and is a good location to see whitetip reef sharks. Other species seen at Blue Pools include turtles, stingrays, mackerel and barracuda.

Agnes Water Beach

Agnes Water Beach - an unspoilt haven and Queensland's most northerly surf beach. Located just one hour south of Gladstone, the beach is famous for its picturesque surrounds, surfing, kitesurfing and standup paddle boarding. Each year in the sand and surf comes alive with exciting events including the 'Reef2Beach Longboard Classic' and 'Agnes Water Triathlon'. Main beach is located a short walk from the Agnes Water town centre, or (limited) car parking is available near the beach. When you've had enough of the white sands and blue waters, head to a nearby Cafe and enjoy the sensational Queensland weather.
