Basílica de Zapopan

Historical Landmark
Zapopan’s pride and joy, the Basílica de Zapopan, was built in 1730 and is home to Nuestra Señora de Zapopan, a petite statue of the Virgin visited by religious pilgrims year-round. During the Fiestas de Octubre, thousands of faithful from the Jalisco region crawl behind as the statue is carried from the basilica to Guadalajara’s central cathedral. The procession involves dancing and colorful traditional wear. During the evening, local families throng the plaza outside and streams of priests, nuns, and monks fill the streets.

Instituto Cultural Cabañas

Historical Landmark
Built in 1805, it was classified as Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. This places it as one of the most requested alternative venues for national and international events. It also hosts exhibitions of renowned artists, as well as proposals of new creators forming a unique atmosphere of the past and future. Its neoclassical architecture shelters the great murals of José Clemente Orozco. In this work, the visual narrative poured into walls and vaults leads us through relevant passages of the history of Mexico, reflecting at the same time our abrupt encounter with the Old World. It is a creation of great pictorial technique that deeply reflects on the miscegenation of America. Majestic and elegant are the main features that distinguish the events that take place on its patios and gardens.
