Local Attractions

Route 21 Safari

26 mi. away
The adventure is designed to experience an authentic connection with Costa Rica, especially the region of Guanacaste. You will feel the soul and spirit of its people, wild life and environment. We like to call it PURA VIDA. This activity is in form of a Safari. Leaving the JW Marriott in SUV driving to Congo Trail where an extreme ziplining activity awaits. After the activity a private tour with the Biologist explaining the rehabilitation process of the Monkey. This activity is part of a social responsibility and is organized by JW Marriott

Hotsprings and Adventure Package

2 hours away
Visiting the northern flanks of Rincón de la Vieja volcano is perfect for enjoying several activities during your stay at one of Guanacaste's best mountain lodges. The Canopy Tour takes you through the tropical forest in a truly unique way. Equipped with a harness and accompanied by trained guides, you'll embark on an adventure that'll take you across ten cables that connect platforms which sit in centuries-old trees. A 400-meter (1,300 foot) waterslide is also located in the forest. The slide is a like a fountain of youth for grownups and great fun for children. After these two activities, you'll enjoy a wonderful traditional Costa Rican lunch, offering the best of our cuisine. Either a horseback ride or a trip in horse-drawn carriage will take us to some thermal hot springs located in the middle of nature, where you'll receive a volcanic mud treatment. The curative properties of the mud will leave your skin feeling rejuvenated. Here, you can enjoy the hot springs, relax, and be a part of this special natural environment.

Tamarindo Town

8 mi. away
Tamarindo is the most developed beach on the north Pacific area and one of Costa Rica's best-known surf spots. It is a mile-long crescent beach which serves as the front yard of the town with restaurants and lounge bars lining the beach from where you have front row view to the surf and beach life. Despite the town’s recent and ongoing development, it retains the laidback vibe that is so characteristic of the region. The village center is filled with souvenir, art, and fashion shops, some of them geared towards discriminating travelers. Supermarkets and specialty shops offer international delicatessen and cosmopolitan residents also offer a remarkable assortment of good restaurants.

Rincon de la Vieja National Park

2 hours away
After an interesting ride through towns and hills, you'll arrive at one of Costa Rica's most comprehensive national parks. Rincón de la Vieja houses an active volcano and a variety of ecosystems that include everything from the rainforest to dry forest, passing through cloud forests along the way. The park's biodiversity creates one of Guanacaste's most important attractions. An active hike will take you right into the thick of the forest, where you'll experience nature at its purest form. You'll see volcanic activities such as fumaroles and the famous “little volcano,” which is a miniature volcano that shows complete volcanic activity. The search for wildlife is important as well, as the variety of fauna that lives in the park at any given time is surprising. After the hike, you'll head to the restaurant, where you'll savor an authentic Costa Rican lunch.

5 minutes away
Costa Rica is a world-class destination for surfing, boasting kilometers of white sand beaches and unrivaled waves. Make your way to one of Guanacaste's picturesque beaches, a popular destination among surfers. Learn the techniques you need to handle your board with a 2-hour lesson and set out into the ocean surf. For the most experienced ones, check out the best places for surfing: Tamarindo, Witches Rock, Playa Negra and Playa Avellanas.

Scuba diving, stand up paddle, snorkeling, jet skiing, Kayaking.

Sailing Sunset Tour

15 minutes away
Silently glide along Costa Rica’s Gold Coast while passing some of Guanacaste’s exotic bays, white sand beaches and tropical jungles. Gaze off the bow with a cold tropical drink as you scan the seas for dolphins, sea turtles, flying fish or even a breaching whale. You can also add a snorkel excursion to your sailing.

Palo Verde boat tour

2 hours away
A trip along the Tempisque and Bebedero Rivers will take us to Palo Verde National Park. Mangroves abound. The best birdwatching for aquatic species if round right here, as the park is favored by many migratory birds as they escape the cold winters in North and South America. At the same time, the area's density gives it a rich mix of mammal, amphibian and reptile life, including the famous crocodiles. An expert naturalist guide will explain all the facets of the park, which simply by itself is a great oasis of Guanacaste's plains. At the end of your river trip, you'll stop at the river's edge to have lunch at a picnic spot. After lunch you'll begin the return to your beach hotel, passing through peaceful villages along the way.
