The northern gateway to the Trail is Hampton Cove in Huntsville, a 54-hole facility with terrain that drastically changes from one side of the property to the other. Renovated in 2008, The Highlands course has been restored to its orginal Scottish Links design. Completely opposite in design is the River course, the only Robert Trent Jones layout without a single bunker. The River Course is a throwback to the way courses were built long ago. The dirt was merely pushed up to create the greens and tees, leaving all else, including massive oak trees, undisturbed.

The Huntsville Aquatics Center, formerly known as the Brahan Spring Park Natatorium, recently finished renovations that include the addition of a new 50-meter Competition Pool and a warm water Instructional Pool in addition to the Legacy Pool, original to the former “Nat.” With these renovations, the City now has two Olympic size pools for competition use and the largest spectator seating capacity in the state with over 1,400 seats. The new Instructional Pool provides warm water therapy at 90 degrees, an in water bench with jets and a handicapped access ramp into the water. The Instructional Pool replaces the therapy pool at the Jim Williams Aquatic Center.

Pennington, the buildings that have become the core of Iron City Birmingham have had a long history in the auto industry and left a lasting impression on the Southside landscape.
