Il Beijing National Aquatics Center (in cinese semplificato), ufficialmente noto anche come National Aquatics Center, e colloquialmente noto come Water Cube (cinese:), è un centro acquatico costruito accanto allo Stadio Nazionale di Pechino nel Verde Olimpico per le gare di nuoto delle Olimpiadi estive del 2008. Nonostante il suo soprannome, l'edificio non è un vero cubo, ma un parallelepipedo (una scatola rettangolare). Il terreno è stato aperto il 24 dicembre 2003 e il Centro è stato completato e consegnato all'uso il 28 gennaio 2008. Lo Stadio Nazionale di Pechino, ufficialmente lo Stadio Nazionale, noto anche come Bird's Nest (Niṛocháo), è uno stadio di Pechino, in Cina. Lo stadio è stato progettato per essere utilizzato durante le Olimpiadi e le Paralimpiadi estive del 2008. Situato nell'Olympic Green, lo stadio è costato 423 milioni di dollari. Il progetto è stato aggiudicato su proposta dello studio di architettura svizzero Herzog & de Meuron nell'aprile 2003 dopo una procedura di gara che comprendeva 13 proposte definitive. Il progetto, nato dallo studio della ceramica cinese, prevedeva l'uso di travi in acciaio per nascondere i supporti del tetto retrattile, conferendo allo stadio l'aspetto di un nido d'uccello. Il principale artista cinese Ai Weiwei è stato il consulente artistico del progetto. Il tetto retrattile è stato successivamente rimosso dal progetto dopo aver ispirato l'aspetto più riconoscibile dello stadio. Il terreno è stato rotto il 24 dicembre 2003 e lo stadio è stato inaugurato ufficialmente il 28 giugno 2008. È prevista la costruzione di un centro commerciale e di un hotel per aumentare l'uso dello stadio, che ha avuto difficoltà ad attirare eventi, di calcio e non, dopo le Olimpiadi.
