Bongeunsa è un tempio buddista fondato nel 794 durante il Silla (uno dei Tre Regni di Corea) periodo. Il tempio ha più di 1.000 anni e ha molte interessanti testimonianze storiche e comprese le xilografie dell'Avatamsaka Sutra (Ghirlanda di fiori Sutra). Il tempio è anche un turista molto popolare destinazione, che offre vari programmi relativi a quelli tradizionali Cultura buddista coreana, in una varietà di lingue. Goryeo Cheongdongrueunhyangno (bruciatore di incenso in bronzo) è designato come Tesoro della Corea n. 321. Un tempo era un tesoro di Bongeunsa e ora è esposto nel museo dell'Università di Dongguk. La calligrafia sulla tavola sospesa del Panjeon (Hall) c'è l'opera di Kim Jeong- hui, scritto tre giorni prima della sua morte ed è molto apprezzato per la sua purezza e semplicità. Panjeon di Bongeunsa è l'unico edificio che è sfuggito a un grande incendio nel 1939 e ne contiene altri significato storico rispetto a qualsiasi altro edificio di Bongeunsa.
