L'Assemblea costituente del Bangladesh e il primo Parlamento si sono seduti nell'edificio che oggi ospita l'ufficio del Primo Ministro e che viene spesso chiamato il vecchio Shangshad Bhaban (vecchia sede del Parlamento). Anche il secondo Parlamento ha tenuto la maggior parte delle sedute in quell'edificio, l'ultima seduta è stata il 10 luglio 1981. Fu durante il mandato del secondo Parlamento che l'attuale edificio del Parlamento, o Shangshad Bhaban, situato a Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, divenne funzionale. L'ottava, e tra l'altro l'ultima sessione, è iniziata il 15 febbraio 1982 nel nuovo edificio.
