La torre veneziana è una delle strutture difensive storiche più interessanti e belle di Durazzo. È parte integrante della fortezza bizantina di Durazzo, dichiarata monumento culturale di prima categoria. Un tempo era considerata una delle strutture di difesa più formidabili lungo la costa occidentale del Mare Adriatico. L'attuale fortezza affonda le sue radici nei primi sforzi di costruzione dell'imperatore bizantino Anastasio I (491—518), originario di Durazzo (antica Dyrrhachium). Costruita sui resti della torre bizantina intorno al XV secolo, la torre veneziana fu fortificata con cannoni per proteggere la città dal mare. Progettata specificamente per essere armata di artiglieria, fungeva da punto di osservazione cruciale per il monitoraggio dell'area circostante. Nel 2022-2023 la Torre Veneziana è stata rinnovata e trasformata nel primo Centro di interpretazione del patrimonio albanese e ora offre ai visitatori la possibilità di esplorare eventi e luoghi storici attraverso strumenti digitali e multimediali all'avanguardia. Questi includono cuffie VR, audioguide, proiezioni multimediali a cupola e altre attività, che combinano l'intrattenimento con uno sguardo più approfondito sulla storia antica della città.

Questo è l'anfiteatro più grande e importante dei Balcani, costruito all'inizio del I secolo d.C. Contiene notevoli caratteristiche architettoniche funzionali e strutturali, uniche in Albania. Gli scavi sistematici iniziarono nel 1966 e ad oggi metà del monumento è stata portata alla luce. L'anfiteatro si trova nel centro della città; la cavea occidentale è costruita sul fianco della collina, mentre il lato opposto si erge da un terreno pianeggiante. L'anfiteatro è di forma ellittica con un diametro di 136 metri. L'altezza della cavea, misurata dalla base, è di 20 metri. La capienza era compresa tra 15.000 e 20.000 spettatori. Questi livelli erano ricoperti da lastre bianche. I gladiatori hanno combattuto nell'arena. In termini di costruzione, la cavea dell'anfiteatro si basava su un sistema di volte in pietra che circondavano l'intera struttura. L'imponenza e le conquiste tecniche di questo anfiteatro testimoniano il fiorire della città di Durazzo nei primi secoli d.C. Dopo aver subito cambiamenti sociali ed economici a seguito del IV secolo, l'anfiteatro di Durazzo cessò di funzionare come tale. In una delle sue gallerie, nel X secolo fu costruita una cappella bizantina, le cui pareti erano decorate con mosaici raffiguranti varie figure.
