Introduction to Nanxun Ancient Town Basic Overview • Location: It is situated in Nanxun District, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China. Lying on the Hangjiahu Plain of the Yangtze River Delta, it borders Zhenze Town, Wujiang District, Jiangsu Province in the east and is 30.3 kilometers away from the urban area of Huzhou City in the west. It is located at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai (two provinces and one municipality directly under the Central Government) and in the core hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. • Historical Origin: Founded in 1252 AD, it was named "Xunxi" during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Southern Song Dynasty, and initially called "Nanlin" at the beginning of the reign of Emperor Lizong of the Southern Song Dynasty. Later, the first characters of the two names were combined to form "Nanxun", which has been retained to this day. • Scenic Honors: It won the "Outstanding Achievement Award for Cultural Heritage Protection in the Asia-Pacific Region" issued by UNESCO in 2003, was successfully inscribed on the World Cultural Heritage List in 2014, and was rated as a national 5A-level tourist attraction in July 2015.
