Only 2 minutes distanced from the hotel, Avenida da Liberdade (Portuguese for "Avenue of Liberty") is a boulevard in central Lisbon, and is considered among the most charming streets in Europe, known by the Champs-Élysées of the portuguese Capital. The Avenida links Marquis of Pombal Square in the north to Restauradores Square, the entrance to the Lisbon Baixa. It's both an office and shopping area. Here you will find several of the most famous brands and clothing stores as well as some cultural venues such as São Jorge Cinema and the Tivoli Theatre. In the surrounding streets you will also find the Cinematheque, the Lisbon Coliseum, the Politeama Theatre and the National Theatre D. Maria II.

Edward VII Park

Edward VII Park (Portuguese: Parque Eduardo VII) is a public park in Lisbon, Portugal. The park occupies an area of 26 hectares (64 acres) to the north of Avenida da Liberdade and Marquis of Pombal Square in Lisbon's city center. The park is named for King Edward VII of the United Kingdom, who visited Portugal in 1903 to strengthen relations between the two countries and reaffirm the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance. The park's central strip, covered with grass, is flanked by long Portuguese paved walkways, dividing the park into two green, tree-lined zones. In the northwest corner of the park, on the site of an old basalt quarry, is the Estufa Fria—a 1.5-hectare (3.7-acre) greenhouse, with a variety of exotic plants, streams, waterfalls, palm trees, fuchsias, banana trees , and the Hot Greenhouse with lush plants, cacti as well as tropical birds.[ Near the greenhouses is a lake with large carp and a children's playground, shaped like a galleon. On the east side is the current Carlos Lopes Pavilion, the former Portuguese pavilion at the 1922 Rio de Janeiro International Exposition, renamed in honor of the winner of the 1984 Olympic marathon. The northern end of the park is a monumental viewpoint where the Monument to the Carnation Revolution was erected, flanked by two sets of two obelisks inspired by the original design of the park. The monument was designed by João Cutileiro and was the subject of much controversy due to its phallic shape. The monument sites next door to the Amália Rodrigues Garden, which pays homage to the Portuguese fadista. The largest Portuguese flag in the world is usually flown at the park's northern end.

Delight with the exuberance of the Estufa Fria’s plants and elements. It's worth taking a walk through the gardens of the Estufa Fria, a unique place in the centre of Lisbon where the lush vegetation coexists with caves and paths, water courses and an atmosphere both wild and romantic. It’s not an oasis in the middle of the city, rather a surreal jungle, right in the heart of the city.

ITALIAN TRADITION IN A SOPHISTICATED SPACE Entering Allora is like taking a trip to Italy. Inspired by the famous Italian Trattorias, the space is spacious with sophisticated décor and plenty of frescoes on the walls. It has a cocktail bar, an open kitchen, an antipasti bar and an ice cream and dessert area. Finally, it’s worth discovering one of the Italian restaurant’s most special spaces: a fantastic covered terrace, reminiscent of Italian gardens, with a refreshing water fountain and an incredible view over the city of Lisbon.

It is impossible not to notice the ancient Bullring if you're at Campo Pequeno. The building is from the late nineteenth century and the entire architecture is of Arabic inspiration. It is currently a multi purpose venue – music concerts, small fairs and festivals. In the galleries and below the arena, you may also find restaurants, a cinema and a shopping centre.

The Baixa is an important historic area and where you can find everything: commerce, art, cultural heritage and diversity. In this neighborhood you must visit the majestic Praça do Comércio, with the grand arch of Rua Augusta on one side, and the romantic Cais das Colunas on the other end, along the waterfront. The renovated riverfront, Avenida Ribeira das Naus, invites you to spend the afternoon on the terrace, facing the Tagus River. We also suggest a visit to the Santa Justa Lift, with a panoramic view of the Lisbon rooftopss, and the MUDE - Museum of Design and Fashion.

Located in Sete Rios, the Zoo is one of the city's main attractions. Here you will find more than 2000 animals of 330 different species: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and arthropods. The Zoo also works as a botanical center and also for conservation, reproduction and reintroduction of endangered species into the wild. There are several thematic activities that allow you to know the different species even better . The subway takes you right to the Zoo (blue line).
Santa Catarina
If you take the famous Elevador da Bica (tram) when coming from Cais do Sodré, and also within walking distance of Chiado and Bairro Alto, you find the Santa Catarina neighborhood – here you have a famous belvedere, better known as the Adamastor belvedere, (Adamastor is the statue in the garden and a central figure in the classical work of Camões, The Lusíadas). Let yourself be amazed by the wonderful views of the Tagus River while relaxing in one of the terraces.
Jardim do Torel
Located next to Campo dos Mártires da Pátria, on the side facing the Avenida da Liberdade, the Garden of Torel is surrounded by palaces of the nineteenth century. The view over Lisbon is very beautiful and within walking distance you find the Elevador do Lavra (tram), which will take you to Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, popularly known as the Colosseum Street (be sure to take a look at the concert programming at the Lisbon Coliseum). During Summer, the Torel has been chosen to have an urban beach with actual sand and a small pool. This year there will also be an urban beach in the Belém area.
Miradouro das Portas do Sol
Halfway between the Lisbon Cathedral (Sé) and the Castle you find the Portas do Sol Belvedere – with fantastic terraces and a simply spectacular view of the river. Fom there you can see the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora and the houses of Alfama, lit by the incredible light of Lisbon. It's very easy to reach the Castle from here or, if you prefer, you can go down to Alfama going by picturesque stairways. A little further down, if you go towards the Cathedral, you find another Belvedere – Miradouro de Santa Luzia.
Miradouro da Graça
Luogo di interesse storico
The Bairro da Graça is very rich in breathtaking views over Lisbon. If you want to see the most beautiful sunset over the city, while enjoying a drink, this is the place to go. The Graça, and Senhora do Monte Belvederes the Cerca da Graça Garden, offer stunning landscapes, with the Castle of St. George, the 25 de Abril Bridge and the hills of Lisbon with their traditional houses and rooftops. Take the time to walk or take the tram down to Alfama, and discover the typical small streets of Lisbon. On Saturdays and Tuesdays you can also stroll through the Feira da Ladra (flea market), where they sell literally everything.
Miradouro São Pedro de Alcantara
This is one of the most beautiful views of the city, with the Castle of St. George just in front. The São Pedro de Alcântara Belvedere is the ideal spot for a refreshing drink in the evening before having dinner at a typical Lisbon restaurant, and then a visit to one of the many bars in the Bairro Alto, right next door. If you are in the area of Avenida da Liberdade it's very easy to get here, coming up the Elevador da Glória (tram).
Parque das Nações
Built at the time of Expo 98, the Nation's Park neighborhood is Lisbon's most cosmopolitan area, with many companies and multinationals established there. Stretched along the river Tagus, it's a quiet place to walk during the day, and a fun zone overnight. The Oceanarium, the Altice Arena and the Lisbon Casino are some of the places to visit.
Belém
A neighborhood that you can't miss out. In addition to the gardens with lawns and terraces, where you can enjoy the sunset by the river, in Belém you find some of the most iconic monuments of the city: the Belém Tower, Jerónimos Monastery and the Discoveries Memorial. Here you may also visit the Coach Museum which holds the world’s most important collection of Royal coaches and carriages as well as the Belém Cultural Centre (CCB). Last but not least, don’t miss the opportunity of tasting the famous and delicious Pastéis de Belém (a kind of custard tart).
Estrela
Take the 28 tram towards Estrela. Get out in front of the Basilica, one of the most beautiful churches of Lisbon and one of the symbols of the neighborhood. Just across the street you find the Estrela Garden, ideal for strolling or simply enjoy a drink on the terrace.
Principe Real
Príncipe Real is one of Lisbon's most trendy neighborhoods, with a beautiful garden and terraces where you feel like spending the afternoon. The neighborhood has plenty of artistic and commercial life with decoration shops, design and art galleries. In the garden, dare to go down the stairs that lead to the beautiful underground galleries of the Reservatório da Patriarcal, a part of the Water Museum. Also noteworthy are the markets of organic food, crafts and antiques that take place here regularly. Also discover the Botanical Garden and the Museum of Science and Natural History.
Cais do Sodré
This is where Lisbon nightlife is at its greatest. On the famous Rua Cor-de-Rosa (Pink Street) you have a wide range of bars and places to have a snack, and very close you have the Ribeira Market, where the offer is equally interesting. For a drink and dance until late, this is the bohemian area of the moment.
Bairro Alto
This is a typical Lisbon neighborhood, with grocery stores and taverns during the day, but with a frenetic and different life when night falls. For a nice dinner and a relaxed drink, in one of the many bars or even in the street on a hot summer night, this is the place to go. If you want to go on for a late night party and fun, go all the way down to the Bica and also to Cais do Sodré.
Chiado
The Chiado owes its name to a sixteenth century satirical poet who lived in that area. It's an upscale neighborhood where commerce and nightlife come together. A special note on the Armazéns do Chiado and surrounding buildings, totally destroyed after a huge fire in 1988 and rebuilt by the Pritzker Prize awarded Architect, Àlvaro Siza Vieira. In Largo do Chiado, you'll find one of the oldest, most famous café in Lisbon - A Brasileira, with the statue of poet Fernando Pessoa greeting those who pass. There are also several cultural attractions nearby: the Teatro S. Luiz, the Teatro da Trindade, Teatro de São Carlos (recommended if you are an opera lover) and the National Museum of Contemporary Art, known as the Chiado Museum.
Traces of the Moors
Throughout the city - especially in older and winding neighborhoods like Mouraria and Alfama – you will find buildings with features inspired by Arab architecture. From domes to patios and windows with beautiful arabesques, discover some places where the Moorish influence is remarkable.

Crossed arms. Poked out bottom lips. Eye rolls. Sighs of displeasure. Mention team building, and you might get these reactions. The thought of another ropes course, forced togetherness or (gasp!) trust falls while keeping your already busy team from their work can create more stress than staying at the workplace. But not with On Purpose Adventures. Your group may need team building (focused on skill development/enhancement) or team bonding (focused on relationship-minded activities) or a combination of both. But whatever the activity, it needs to be facilitated WITH purpose and ON purpose. Most team building programs don’t tie the experience into real-world, job-related application. But ours does. On Purpose delivers team building and bonding with a purpose. Our programs are structured around the way your team operates, and can be tailored to fit your specific challenges and goals. Your team will engage in collaborative activities that build communication, cohesiveness, and enhance skills like collective problem solving, while having fun together. Team building and bonding with On Purpose Adventures brings your team members together in exciting, driven, purposeful activities that make a big impression and generate a genuine team response, keeping them productive and engaged. Skill enhancement happens in a real-life relatable structure, so your takeaways aren’t easily forgotten or lost as soon as the fun ends. Let us help you strengthen your team - on purpose.
