Het museum ligt dicht bij Duitsland en midden in het gebied van twee van de belangrijkste operaties aan het Westfront tijdens WO2: Market Garden en Veritable. Het is een publiekstrekker voor jong en oud, uit binnen- en buitenland. De bezoekers beleven het boeiende Verhaal van Oorlog en Vrijheid zonder Grenzen in zowel Nederland als Duitsland, Europa en daarbuiten. Er is nooit één verhaal. De Tweede Wereldoorlog krijgt in het museum vanuit verschillende perspectieven een veelzijdig gezicht, in samenhang met de geschiedenis van de 20e eeuw en de actualiteit. De bezoeker wordt uitgedaagd kritisch na te denken over vrijheid toen en nu, vol beleving, interactiviteit en museale topstukken. Ook het duurzame gebouw zelf, de 12 meter hoge Dome, is een attractie en heeft een sterke gelijkenis met een enorme parachute. Vanaf het terras heeft u een panoramisch uitzicht over het historische landschap van toen.
