Azalai Hotel Marhaba itself is a short drive from the main Nouakchott airport and is conveniently located on Avenue Gamal Abdel Nasser in the city’s business district, close to the Presidential Palace and the beach. Despite its current status as capital of Mauritania, Nouakchott was once a small fishing village mostly visited by nomads and it only fully developed after 1957, when Mauritania gained independence. Since then, the city has grown at pace, with beautiful mosques, fish markets and shops to explore.
