La riserva naturale è circondata dalla macchia mediterranea e dalle zone umide da cui Torre Guaceto prende il nome: deriva dall'arabo gaw-sit che significa «luogo di acqua dolce» a causa delle sorgenti d'acqua lungo la costa. Scogliere argillose o rocciose con piccole insenature si alternano a tratti di spiagge basse e sabbiose con dune alte fino a 10 metri. L'area marina protetta Torre Guaceto è un paradiso per apneisti e subacquei brulicanti di fauna sottomarina, mentre sul fondo sabbioso cresce una lussureggiante posidonia. Nella zona umida, numerosi uccelli come il falco di palude, la gallinella d'acqua e l'airone cenerino trovano riparo tra i canneti. Ogni birdwatcher ne rimarrà incantato.

We continue the story and memories of our grandparents who taught us everything about our Sicilian and Neapolitan heritage. Growing up we understood our Italian heritage through them as people, their stories and by sharing, eating and cooking the dishes that they grew up with from their homeland and using the ingredients that our relatives would send to us in England from Sicily & Naples in small parcels. When our grandparents left us, it reinforced as a family that what they taught and shared with us is a huge part of our cultural identity, and we could not risk that heritage disappearing. Together as a family and working with other Sicilian families our passion is to give back to the land and work with like-minded young entrepreneurs, landowners and farmers in Sicily to keep this heritage and Sicilian traditions, which we all lovingly grew up with, alive.
