Driving Instructions: For those arriving by car, Raffles Boston is conveniently located near major highways: • From I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike): Take Exit 133 toward Copley Square/Prudential Center. During World War I, victory gardens sprouted. For World War II, the Common gave most of its iron fencing away for scrape metal.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra gave its inaugural concert in 1881, realizing the dream of its founder, the Civil War veteran/businessman/philanthropist Henry Lee Higginson, who envisioned a great and permanent orchestra in his hometown of Boston.
