Un fiume traboccante di storia, arte e cultura La repubblica di Venezia nel corso della sua storia millenaria ha lasciato un'enorme eredità. Sulla terraferma l'esempio più eclatante del patrimonio veneziano sono le ville di campagna, dimore storiche che sono microcosmi di famiglie e comunità, del patrimonio artistico, opere di innumerevoli architetti, pittori e scultori. Intorno alla metà del XVI secolo, i patrizi veneziani scelsero di investire la loro vasta ricchezza, accumulata dal commercio con l'Oriente, nella costituzione di grandi tenute agricole sotto il loro diretto controllo. I nobili veneziani galleggiano sulle acque tranquille del fiume Brenta, partendo direttamente dai loro palazzi sul Canal Grande. A partire dal XVIII secolo, il soggiorno nella villa di campagna, che normalmente coincideva con i due principali periodi di vendemmia (da metà giugno a fine luglio e da inizio ottobre a metà novembre) iniziò a trasformarsi in un'occasione sociale distintiva per la ricca borghesia veneziana, nel frattempo addobbata con titoli nobiliari . La concentrazione di ville, con al loro fianco le tipiche barchesse, o grange colonnate, le scuderie, le colombe e le case lontane, divenne così intensa da alterare radicalmente il paesaggio della Riviera, che divenne quasi una continuazione del Canal Grande, e formò quel meraviglioso idrografico, urbano e complesso monumentale noto in tutto il mondo come la Riviera del Brenta Oggi le splendide ville venete possono essere visitate attraverso tour in cui si intrecciano colori, musica, natura, arte e storia. We continue the story and memories of our grandparents who taught us everything about our Sicilian and Neapolitan heritage. Growing up we understood our Italian heritage through them as people, their stories and by sharing, eating and cooking the dishes that they grew up with from their homeland and using the ingredients that our relatives would send to us in England from Sicily & Naples in small parcels. When our grandparents left us, it reinforced as a family that what they taught and shared with us is a huge part of our cultural identity, and we could not risk that heritage disappearing. Together as a family and working with other Sicilian families our passion is to give back to the land and work with like-minded young entrepreneurs, landowners and farmers in Sicily to keep this heritage and Sicilian traditions, which we all lovingly grew up with, alive.
