歴史的名所
豊臣秀吉の家臣で豊臣五大老の一人、宇喜多秀家が築いた城。3階建て、6階建ての天守閣は、珍しい斜角形の五角形で、堂々とした外観で、黒い下見板張りの外観から「鵜城」とも呼ばれています。最上階からは眼下に旭川が見え、岡山後楽園と市内を360度見渡すことができます。元の天守閣は1945年 (昭和20年) の空襲で全焼しましたが、現在は城主の部屋などが復元されて再建されています。1階には備前焼の工房があり、粘土作りに挑戦できます。また、春、夏、秋に岡山城の天守閣とその周辺がライトアップされる「右条桃源郷（うじょうとうげんきょう）」イベントも人気を集めています。
