The Hoa Lo Prison or "Maison Centrale", was built by the French administration in 1896 when Vietnam was part of French Indochina, to house Vietnamese political prisoners and was later used by the Vietnamese for American prisoners of war. The prison was mostly demolished in the 1990s and turned into a museum. Cells and dungeons can still be visited. To meet the growing demand for visitors, the Hoa Lo Prison Relic has launched a night tour program, which is not just a tour, but an emotional cultural and historical experience.

National Museum of Vietnamese History

The National Museum of Vietnam History was originally the Consul’s residence, and after 1888, it became the residence of the Governor General of French Indochina. Between 1925 and 1932, it was redesigned by French architect Ernest Hebrard in Indochinese style and became the Louis Finot Museum. The museum was reopened in 1958 by the Vietnamese Government and now presents thousands of pieces and documents introducing and explaining the history of national construction and defense of the Vietnamese people.

There are strict rules for visiting the Mausoleum: no shorts or tank tops are allowed, and maintaining a respectful demeanor is required at all times. It is also not permitted to take phones or cameras inside; they must be left at the Security Office.
Built by the Soviet Union in 1975 as a gift to the Vietnamese people, the memorial is located in the center of Ba Dinh Square, where Viet Minh leader Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, signed on September 2, 1945, establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
