Niguel is a village in the region of Valle Lecrin in the province of Granada. It is located halfway between the capital and the Granada coast, under the shelter of Sierra Nevada. And just 15 minutes from the beautiful Alpujarra. Niguel has 1,132 inhabitants according to the SIMA in 2008, being an agricultural municipality.
It has become a major engine of the whole region, which is why many houses have been rehabilitated for this purpose, even some cave houses have been conditioned for rural tourism. This area has much to offer travelers and visitors; excellent trails for walking, local craft shops, tapas bars. The locals are friendly and open, and like to see their villages attract visitors from other lands. There are many attractions such as Arab Baths, ruined castles, ancient oil mills and interesting churches.
