Forsyth park is the largest and most active parks in Savannah. THe park was created in 1851. It's 20-acres large, and while many other cities would have built businesses and residential areas on top of a park like this over a 150-year period, Savannah leaders made it a point to keep it in as close to its original form as possible.
Forsyth Park has long been the scene of many Civil War re-enactments by various groups, and is the home of several monuments and memorials to historical figures. In the center of Forsyth Park you'll see a monument constructed in memory of those killed in the Civil War. There is also a special garden in one corner of the park that is deemed the "Fragrant Garden for the Blind." A famous fountain is found in the other corner of the park. This fountain has appeared in several of the movies that have been filmed in Savannah, including "Forest Gump" and "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."
Forsyth Park is along Bull Street in Savannah. It's the last park along this street and once marked the outskirts of the downtown Savannah area. Now, Forsyth Park is known as a park in the middle of downtown Savannah, and a park that is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
Old Fort Jackson

10 マイル
Fort James Jackson, also known as Old Fort Jackson, has been a part of Coastal Georgia’s history for nearly two centuries. The fort is the oldest standing brick fortification in the state. Fort Jackson is also a National Historic Landmark. The fort is one of only eight Second System fortifications (a series of forts built prior to the War of 1812) still standing in the United States. It served as headquarters for the Confederate Savannah River defenses during the American Civil War.
Thousands of visitors enjoy the fort every year, including numerous student and scout groups, as well as people who rent the fort for community events or after-hours gatherings. Old Fort Jackson is also known for its daily cannon firing demonstrations each summer, and is the only historic fort in the United States delivering cannon salutes to passing military vessels.
Only minutes away from the hotel, the 18-hole championship course lies between the banks of the Savannah and Back Rivers of the Low Country. You will also find a 22,000 sq. ft. clubhouse that features a golf shop, full service locker rooms, and dining areas.
Fort Pulaski is a Civil War relic, captured by Union Troops in 1862.
The Battle of Fort Pulaski marked a turning point in military history. It featured the first significant use of rifled cannons in combat. These accurate, long-range weapons shattered Fort Pulaski's walls from over a mile away. After thirty-hours of bombardment, the fort surrendered. The battle surprised military strategists worldwide, signaling the end of masonry fortifications.
Lunch and dinner are served in this beloved local treasure, Savannah’s only 18th Century Mansion. With antiques and ancestor paintings, and fireplaces aglow in every room, the Olde Pink House is the ultimate Savannah setting for world - renowned elegant Southern cuisine. Two huge brick hearths, leather sofas, polished brass and massive dark oak ceiling beams provide a dramatic setting in the Planters Tavern, Savannah’s most popular nightspot for live music. Many guests believe they have encountered friendly ghosts in this, circa 1771, national historic landmark.

City Market is not a place you visit. It's a place you discover and explore. A place that's romantic, historic, serene and exciting. A place where there's always something new to encounter, something different to find, something hidden to uncover. You may have to look around a corner, behind an old door or up a remote staircase. But that's just part of the charm and what makes CITY MARKET so special.
