About us

The majestic Voortrekker Monument is situated in the northern part of South Africa in the Pretoria (Tshwane) region in a nature reserve. It is a unique Monument which commemorates the Pioneer history of Southern Africa and the history of the Afrikaner and is situated in a beautiful setting. There are several facilities for hire at the Monument at reasonable rates. The Amphitheatre was built for the inauguration of the Voortrekker Monument on 16 December 1949. Located on the North-eastern side of the Monument, it is designed to house 20000 people (seated) and 10000 standing. The picnic site at the Voortrekker Monument Heritage Site offers this and much more. The area is situated in a nature reserve where game and horses drink at the water hole across the road. Both the Voortrekker Monument and Fort Schanskop are situated within a stone's throw from the picnic site and with horse rides within walking distance, this is the ideal spot to spend a relaxing day conveniently close to the city. The picnic site also accommodates two halls with ablution facilities and kitchens that can be used for informal activities such as family reunions. Both halls provide ample under-cover facilities for larger groups of people.
