Known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, the large canyon approximately 10 miles long and up to 3000 feet deep is located on the western side of Kauai. Waimea is Hawaiian for Reddish water, a reference to the erosion of the canyon's red soil. The Canyon was formed by a deep incision of the Waimea River arising from the extreme rainfall on the island's central peak, Mount Wai`ale`ale, earning it's distinction as one of the wettest places on earth.

Kauai Backcountry Adventures offer mountain tubing and zipline adventures. Both very popular and must do adventures here on Kaua`i. Located a mere 15 minutes in Hanamaulu town, this is a one of a kind tubing experience through the old sugar plantation irrigation system, open canals and through several hand-dug tunnels circa 1870. You are also able to soar through the air on the seven-line zipline course, traversing the side of a mountain down to a lush bamboo grove.

Golfer and architect Jack Nicklaus created the original Kiele Course in the late 1980s and called back in 2011 to redesign the back nine of his famed Kiele Course. Arguably the best new feature is the additional ocean hole that is the centerpiece of what is the longest stretch of continuous ocean holes any course in Hawaii which provides over 1/2 miles of unobstructed oceanfront.

A multi million dollar renovation was completed of the full property in 2019. Space listed above includes flexible spaces and outdoor space. In addition, there is 2,600 sq. ft. of oceanfront lawn space that may be considered. In September 2021, the hotel opened a brand new, open air pavilion, offering over 4,000 sq. ft. of event space. This pavilion is located steps away from the beach with stunning ocean views. In addition to the space listed above, the Sheraton Kauai at Coconut Beach also has several flexible outdoor spaces for events & functions, including oceanfront lawns, poolside, fire pits, outdoor patio's. Please ask your sales representative to review all options available for your group to explore.
