Lake Como, also called "il Lario", is about 46 kilometers long with a maximum depth of 400 meters. Characteristic Y-shaped Lario is well recognizable from the sky. In spring, neoclassical Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo offers its visitors a mangnificent spectacle of rhododendros and azaleas. Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio, "the pearl of lake", is the place to breathe history, art and culture of a glorious past when Leonardo da Vinci, poet Giuseppe Parini and Queen Victoria used to spend their time here. Villa Balbianello, situated on Lenno's promontory, offers a beautiful garden and loggia with a spectacular view over the lake. In front of Ossuccio we find the only Lario's island, Isola Comacina, with its old traditions and flavours, its Romanesque church (Santa Maria Maddalena) with a Gothic bell tower and rationalist "artists houses".

We continue the story and memories of our grandparents who taught us everything about our Sicilian and Neapolitan heritage. Growing up we understood our Italian heritage through them as people, their stories and by sharing, eating and cooking the dishes that they grew up with from their homeland and using the ingredients that our relatives would send to us in England from Sicily & Naples in small parcels. When our grandparents left us, it reinforced as a family that what they taught and shared with us is a huge part of our cultural identity, and we could not risk that heritage disappearing. The only way to find out about it was via word of mouth. No address was given, the only clue being a sign placed in the window, “Cocktails Here”. A lot of people thought it was pretty cool, even before The New York Times wrote about it. But that was all pre-pandemic, and this is a new era.
