This pagoda is located at the southernmost tip of Koh Samui. Its golden hue makes for an astonishingly beautiful contrast to the blue skies above and the turquoise sea beyond. The entrance is guarded by two giant warrior statues with immense swords, colourful clothing and forbidding faces. The Buddha stands in the doorway to the rear of the statues. A great photo opportunity, with absolutely nothing obstructing your view.

The story goes that an old couple were sailing to a nearby province to arrange their son’s marriage. Located at Tambon Borput, Ampur Koh Samui, Surat Thani Province, the site of the airport used to be a coconut plantation. However the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand considered that the size and physical features of this plot of land were suitable for building an airport.
