Choose to drift eastward out onto Lake Constance or paddle westward along the Seerhein, past the picturesque Wollmatinger Ried nature reserve, and enjoy the peaceful ride downstream. A wonderful way to explore Lake Constance is to take the ferry from the port of Constance to Meersburg. The ferries run regularly and the journey takes only about 15 minutes. Once you arrive in Meersburg, the picturesque old town invites you to take a stroll: narrow streets, lovingly preserved half-timbered houses, and charming squares such as the market square characterize the historic townscape. Other sights worth seeing include the Old Church of Meersburg, the town museum, and numerous small shops, cozy restaurants, and cafés. Meersburg Castle, one of the oldest inhabited castles in Germany, towers high above the town. The imposing 12th-century building offers a fascinating insight into times gone by: numerous exhibition rooms, a museum, and a castle café make a visit here a special experience. Those who want to discover the region's culinary delights should pay a visit to the Aufricht Winery. For cyclists, the route starts in Constance and leads along the lake shore via Bodanrück to Reichenau. Those traveling on foot can take the same scenic route. Both paths offer magnificent views of Lake Constance and the surrounding nature, with idyllic orchards and picturesque landscapes. Once you arrive on the island of Reichenau, you will find a UNESCO World Heritage Site with historic monasteries and buildings worth seeing. Hikers and cyclists can explore the island at their leisure, for example through the botanical garden or the Reichenau gardens. If you feel like a refreshment, you can take a short break at one of the many bathing spots.
