Fynbos Mountain Retreat is an hour’s drive up the west coast from Cape Town, in the Paardeberg Mountain, just outside the town of Malmesbury. Situated in a hidden kloof, our lovely farm nestles against the mountain, tranquil and faraway, yet easy to reach. It covers 320 hectares – of which 20 hectares are wine-grape vineyard, 30 hectares are open farmland, and 270 hectares are Granite Mountain. The vegetation is relatively pristine and is a mix of fynbos types. Fynbos Estate offers comfortable country accommodation in the Farm House, Fynbos House and Cottage. In total the estate can accommodate 25 people sharing. Wi-Fi connectivity with free unlimited internet access is available in all accommodation (except Camping hut), workshop, conference and function areas. Fynbos Estate offers a variety of outdoor and indoor possibilities for all kinds of ceremonies. For those wishing to marry outdoors, lawns and gardens surrounding the Farmhouse, offer many different tranquil and beautiful locations. Should you want to marry indoors, the Chapel, a wine cellar built circa 1850, offers an old-world atmosphere and can accommodate up to 80 guests. For small, less formal ceremonies, there is also the Victorian Farm House with its large Oregon windows, raku fireplace and wrap-around veranda. For a truly magical reception, the Pavilion is on two levels connected by two steps and altogether is 130 square metres in size. It can accommodate under cover up to about 80 with dancing and more without dancing. In good weather, with its sides opened, guests can spill out into the courtyard and patios, leaving its wooden floors free for dancing. Seating can be fashioned either in banquet style or with individual tables. The Pavilion can be hired on its own or fully catered and is available at any time of the day or night. On a clear night the Pavilion lies beneath a beautiful starry dome, and at certain times of the year the Milky Way fills the night sky. Fynbos is renowned for wonderful celebrations, whether these are casual day events, or evening parties. Lunch events may find guests clustered around a barbecue of succulent meats, or feasting at a buffet table of scrumptious country cuisine. Relaxing under the trees, catching up with friends or swimming in the pool, make events a delight for birthdays, anniversaries, family get-togethers launches and year-end events. Partying by night is quite something else. Hanging lanterns and candles transform the ambiance to one of pure magic as the pavilion floats beneath a sky clustered with stars, and you can dance the night away.
