The Maui Tropical Plantation is a theme park of sorts -- Maui style! This 120 acre preserve is a working plantation and an entertaining crash course in Hawaiian agriculture, complete with 40 minutes of sightseeing on a guided tram ride through the fields. The plantation produces sugar cane, pineapple, coffee, bananas, mangoes, papayas, avocado, star fruit and macadamia nuts. The nursery is a feast for the eyes, featuring hibiscus, orchid, ginger and more. Demonstrations in coconut husking and lei making, historic displays, a restaurant and a great souvenir and product shop. Great fun for all ages.
