Acorn Hall is vernoemd naar de twee eeuwen oude rode eik (Quercus rubra) die vroeger op het terrein stond. Het werd gebouwd voor de familie Schermerhorn in 1853 en gekocht door Agustus en Mary Crane in 1860. Het bleef eigendom van de familie Crane-Hone tot 1971, toen Mary Crane Hone de Hall, de inhoud en de omliggende vijf hectare schonk aan de Morris County Historical Society (MCHS).
De hal en het terrein zijn opgenomen in de New Jersey State Registers of Historic Places en het National Register of Historic Places. Als erkenning voor de rol van de Crane and Hone vrouwen in zowel de conservatie als de vrouwenkiesrechtbeweging, maakt Acorn Hall deel uit van de NJ Women's Hertitage Trail. Het terrein is verbonden met het Patriot's Path-wandelsysteem van de Morris County Park Commission.
