Het Royal Liver Building staat centraal aan de waterkant van Liverpool en staat symbool voor de stad, haar geschiedenis en haar inwoners. Het is van groot historisch en cultureel belang voor de stad Liverpool, niet in de laatste plaats omdat de mythische levervogels op de torens staan. Volgens de populaire legende zijn ze een paar mannen en vrouwen: het vrouwtje (Bella) kijkt uit op zee en kijkt uit naar zeelieden om ervoor te zorgen dat ze veilig naar huis terugkeren, en het mannetje (Bertie) kijkt naar de stad om over de families van de zeelieden te waken (of 'ervoor te zorgen dat de pubs open zijn', zoals een alternatieve lokale versie zegt). De plaatselijke legende vertelt ook dat de vogels van elkaar af staan, want als ze zouden paren en wegvliegen, zou de stad ophouden te bestaan. De audiovisuele ervaring van de klokkentoren, ondersteund door een originele muziekscore, wordt rechtstreeks digitaal geprojecteerd op de muren van de historische klokkentoren in het monumentale gebouw van 322 meter hoog en verkent de betekenis van het gebouw voor Liverpool en hoe de stad is veranderd in de 108 jaar sinds de bouw van het Liver Building.
