Galataport Istanbul is van plan deze historische stadshaven om te toveren tot een cruisehaven en toeristische bestemming van wereldklasse, terwijl de promenade voor het eerst in ongeveer twee eeuwen wordt opengesteld voor openbaar gebruik. Met zijn toegankelijke laagbouw, een architectonisch ontwerp dat het historische tapijt van het gebied omarmt, een breed scala aan vervoersmogelijkheden en meer, biedt Galataport Istanbul een ademende, gezonde en veilige omgeving voor cultuur en kunst, werk, winkelen en dineren.
Galataport Istanbul is een voorbeeldproject op wereldschaal en beschikt over een ondergrondse terminal met een luiksysteem, de eerste in zijn soort ter wereld. De historische haven behoudt zijn status als de maritieme toegangspoort van Istanbul tot de wereld.
Een ander aspect van het project is een ondergrondse parkeergarage met 2.400 voertuigen, die het parkeerprobleem in de stad zal helpen verminderen.
Galataport Istanbul zal ongeveer 25 miljoen bezoekers per jaar verwelkomen, waaronder 7 miljoen buitenlandse toeristen. Het project zal naar verwachting elk jaar ongeveer 1,5 miljoen cruiseschippassagiers naar Istanbul lokken.
