In het hart van het centrum van Amarillo, aan de rand van Route 66, typeert The Barfield de steeds evoluerende geschiedenis van deze iconische stad. The Barfield, gebouwd in de jaren 1920, was de eerste wolkenkrabber van Amarillo en was de gastheer van het illustere zakenimperium van de stad. Tegenwoordig is het een eerbetoon aan zijn erfgoed met art deco-design en een historische liftlobby. Beneden verleidt Amarillo's 'slechtst bewaarde geheim', de Paramount Recreation Club, in ware Prohibition-stijl zowel bezoekers als de lokale bevolking met een warm welkom en een langverwachte cocktail.
