Sinds de grootse opening op 21 juli 1864 staat dit historische etablissement symbool voor Victoriaanse elegantie gecombineerd met moderne luxe. Het hotel is ontworpen door John Whichcord Jr. en heeft een sierlijke gevel en ingewikkelde interieurdetails, zoals de eerste Britse lift buiten Londen. Tot de gratis voorzieningen behoren onbeperkt WiFi, mineraalwater en koffie- en theefaciliteiten, allemaal in een elegant ontworpen interieur gericht op ontspanning en comfort. Het hotel voltooide in maart 2025 een investering van £16 miljoen in alle hotelkamers.
