Het Rode Fort is een historisch fort in de stad Delhi in India dat diende als hoofdverblijf van de Mogolkeizers. Keizer Shah Jahan gaf opdracht tot de wederopbouw van het Rode Fort op 12 mei 1638, toen hij besloot zijn hoofdstad te verplaatsen van Agra naar Delhi. Oorspronkelijk rood en wit, is het ontwerp toegeschreven aan de architect. Het werd gereconstrueerd tussen mei 1639 en april 1648. Op 15 augustus 1947 hief de eerste premier van India, Jawaharlal Nehru, de Indiase nationale vlag boven de Lahori-poort. In het centrum van New Delhi staat de 42 meter hoge India Gate, een „Arc-de-Triomphe” -achtige poort midden op een kruispunt. Tijdens het vallen van de avond wordt India Gate dramatisch verlicht, terwijl de fonteinen in de buurt een prachtig schouwspel vormen met gekleurde lichten.
