De Philharmonie is een prachtige concertzaal uit de 19e eeuw, die op subtiele wijze de klassieke grandeur van hoge plafonds en kroonluchters combineert met moderne industriële architectuur. De locatie bestaat uit acht zalen en twee ruime foyers en biedt plaats aan maximaal 3500 personen. Tijdens de renovatie werd de Philharmonie ook volledig aangepast aan de hedendaagse eisen op het gebied van verlichting, akoestiek en audiovisuele apparatuur, en biedt het (gratis) Wi-Fi in het hele gebouw. Extra capaciteit De aangrenzende Toneelschuur biedt de mogelijkheid om de capaciteit van de Philharmonie uit te breiden met nog eens zes kamers (extra capaciteit tot 680 personen). Grote Zaal De grootste zaal van de Philharmonie, de klassieke concertzaal, is zeer multifunctioneel, omdat ze een flexibele zitindeling en een verplaatsbare vloer heeft. In de theateropstelling biedt de zaal plaats aan een publiek van maximaal 1220. De theaterstoelen zijn verplaatsbaar en kunnen daarom naar wens worden opgesteld of zelfs uit de zaal worden verwijderd. 350 m² vloer van de zaal (in totaal 551 m²) kan flexibel worden gebruikt: het duurt slechts tien seconden om de hellende galerij om te zetten in een vlakke vloer. Deze aanpassing maakt het mogelijk om letterlijk elke gewenste zaalindeling te creëren: van een debatsetting tot een podium of catwalk in het midden van de zaal. Dit maakt de flexibele Grand Hall de ideale locatie voor conferenties, galadiners en exposities. Het pronkstuk van de zaal is het 19e eeuwse Cavaillé-Coll-orgel, dat bestaat uit ongeveer 4000 pijpen.

Nieuwe meubels Het idee om 'de Philharmonie als platform voor Nederlands Design' te herontwikkelen, werd bedacht door de architect van de Philharmonie, Frits van Dongen, en werd ontwikkeld en uitgevoerd in samenwerking met zijn bureau, Van Dongen-Koschuch. Het plan combineert de eigen moderne en historische architectuur van het gebouw met een collectie meubels van Nederlandse ontwerpers. Dit geeft de ontwerpers ook een platform voor de tentoonstelling en verkoop van hun werken. In ruil daarvoor zijn de foyers van het gebouw uitgerust met een reeks duurzame, functionele en comfortabele meubels die een intieme maar toch ultramoderne sfeer creëren.
