De naam van het hotel is afgeleid van de naam van de muze Erato, een van de 9 muzen uit de Griekse mythologie. Vanwege de algemene centrale ligging biedt het Erato hotel zijn gasten de mogelijkheid om alle dorpen van Gouves (dimos) en alle bestemmingen van Kreta heel gemakkelijk en snel te bereiken. Op slechts 500 meter van het hotel ligt het D.E.K. (International Exhibition Centre of Crete), waardoor het hotel in de winter open blijft, evenals het grootste (aquarium) van de Balkan. Ergens tussen die traditionele dorpen ligt de kustplaats Gournes, waar u het Erato Hotel vindt. Een leuk klein familiehotel met een eigen geschiedenis door vele jaren gebruik, mede dankzij de steun van de vele terugkerende „hotelvrienden”. Erato is gebouwd in traditionele Kretenzische stijl en is onlangs volledig gerenoveerd. Het biedt niet alleen Kretenzische gastvrijheid en warmte, maar ook hoogwaardige service en kan mensen die op zoek zijn naar rust en sereniteit een unieke ervaring bieden. Het aantal repeaters van het hotel en vrienden van de familie is het bewijs van het succes van het gastgezin.
