Op Mallorca en de naburige eilanden Menorca, Ibiza en Formentera wordt met ingang van 1 juli 2016 een toeristenbelasting geheven. Deze belasting is bedoeld voor de bescherming van het milieu en het landschap, het behoud van het historische en culturele erfgoed van de eilanden en investeringen in toeristische infrastructuur. Het bedrag is gebaseerd op het type accommodatie, ongeveer 1,50€ voor verblijven in het hoogseizoen (1 mei tot 31 oktober).
