Sinds de 19e eeuw heeft een bevaarbare dam het mogelijk gemaakt om het meer over te steken op het smalste punt tussen Rapperswil en Hurden. De houten loopbrug bestaat ook nog steeds. In april 2001 werd op de plaats van de oude voetgangersbrug een 841 meter lange, tweeënhalve meter brede, modern ontworpen houten brug in gebruik genomen. Het is de langste houten loopbrug in Zwitserland. Het staat op in totaal 233 palen. Met uitzondering van enkele structurele elementen (jukbalken, barrière, verbindingsdelen), is de gehele voetgangersbrug gemaakt van onbehandeld eikenhout.
