Het Willamette Heritage Center is gunstig gelegen in het centrum van Salem, op slechts drie blokken van het Oregon State Capitol op 12th en Mill Street. De gebouwen van vroege nederzettingen brengen bezoekers terug naar de jaren 1840, toen Euro-Amerikaanse missionarissen en immigranten zich vestigden in de Mid-Willamette-vallei, de thuisbasis van de Kalapuya. Het Jason Lee House en Methodist Parsonage uit 1841 zijn de oudste nog bestaande huizen met houten kozijnen in de Pacific Northwest, samen met het John D.
