Gebouwd in de 11e eeuw als plezierpaleis voor de moslimkoningen die heersten over de Taifa van Sarakusta. Tien eeuwen later is dat paleis van vreugde, bedacht door de moslimmonarch Al-Muqtadir, samen met het Alhambra in Granada en de moskee van Córdoba, nog steeds een van de artistieke juwelen van de islamitische aanwezigheid in Zuid-Europa. In 2001 heeft UNESCO de Mudejar-kunst van Aragon uitgeroepen tot werelderfgoed, waarbij het Aljafería-paleis werd benadrukt als een van de meest representatieve monumenten van de Mudejar-kunst, dat het symbool is geworden van de Aragonese civiele architectuur en waarschijnlijk een van de verplichte referenties van de Spaanse geschiedenis en cultuur. Bij binnenkomst in het monument vind je de prachtige arcades van het Islamitische paleis, die contrasteren met de imposante aanwezigheid van de Troubadour-toren, maar je komt ook door het middeleeuwse paleis van de koningen van Aragon. De Aljafería heeft verschillende wisselvalligheden, veranderingen en fasen ondergaan. Veel Aragonezen herinneren zich het nog als een kazerne in de 20e eeuw, maar tegenwoordig is het een levend, open gebouw, een cultureel referentiepunt dat zijn lange geschiedenis laat zien en binnen de muren de instelling herbergt die alle Aragonezen vertegenwoordigt: de Cortes de Aragón.

Dit complex, geopend op 5 oktober 1994, is - vanwege zijn indeling en kenmerken - ontworpen voor de viering van de grootste muzikale evenementen; en ook voor de organisatie van evenementen zoals congressen, congressen, beurzen, bedrijfsvergaderingen, politieke en sociale evenementen en, kortom, allerlei soorten activiteiten. Het Auditorium biedt in totaal 25.500 m2 en de flexibiliteit die de uitzonderlijke faciliteiten bieden. Met gemiddeld 200 concerten per jaar en een opkomst van 400.000 mensen per jaar is het een echte drijvende kracht in het sociale en culturele leven van de stad Zaragoza.
