Dit museumgebouw in beton, glas en staal doet denken aan de wereld van Le Corbusier. Het verving het 19e-eeuwse kasteel dat in 1960 door een brand werd verwoest en werd ingehuldigd in 1975. Het museum herbergt collecties die de klassieke beschavingen van Egypte, Griekenland en Rome presenteren, evenals de kunst van China, Europese decoratieve kunsten en lokale geschiedenis en archeologie. Dit prachtige gebouw werd tussen 1763 en 1768 gebouwd door de architect Laurent-Benoît Dewez en herbergt nu het Zilversmedenmuseum van de Franse Gemeenschap van België. Aan weerszijden van de neoklassieke gevel lopen twee lange galerijen met ionische zuilen, terwijl de binnenplaats een smeedijzeren poort heeft. Het kleine theater, dat een perfect voorbeeld is van neo-Palladiaanse architectuur uit de tweede helft van de 18e eeuw, organiseert concerten en tentoonstellingen. De orangerie, die oorspronkelijk werd gebouwd voor de sinaasappelbomen die de binnenplaats en de omgeving van het kasteel sierden, wordt nu gebruikt voor concerten, lezingen, tentoonstellingen, recepties en andere evenementen. Kom en ontdek de elegante levensstijl van de 18e eeuw. U kunt ook genieten van de permanente tentoonstelling „Grandeur en Intimiteit”. Tussen traditie en dapperheid, frivoliteit en invloed, soberheid en verwennerij, kunt u meer dan 500 stukken zilverwerkcollectie bewonderen die zijn opgevoerd om de waarde van hun functie te vergroten. Tussen groene ruimtes en de spiegel van het water, te midden van gebouwen die zowel verleden als heden oproepen, ontdekt u een opmerkelijke en levende site.

Tussen La Louvière en Thieu zijn al meer dan een eeuw vier hydraulische bootliften in gebruik. Ze werden gebouwd tussen 1882 en 1917 en elk van hen overspant een hoogteverschil van ongeveer 17 meter, uitsluitend aangedreven door water. Het is net alsof je terug in de tijd reist, want de boten nemen je mee op ontdekkingsreis rond dit unieke systeem van waterwegen, dat in 1998 door UNESCO werd uitgeroepen tot Werelderfgoed.
