We hebben een pendeldienst van en naar de Springfield Capital Airport en het Amtrak-station. Het hotel ligt op de kruising van Adams Street en 7th. Vanaf de Interstate 55 neemt u de afrit Clear Lake Road (afrit 98B) en rijdt u verder op Clear Lake Road naar 9th Street. Sla linksaf naar 9th Street en rijd 1 blok verder naar Adams en sla linksaf. Lincolns huis in het centrum van Springfield is onweerstaanbaar gebleken voor bezoekers sinds het voor het eerst werd geopend voor het publiek in 1887. Gebouwd in 1839 en prachtig gerestaureerd naar de uitstraling van 1860, was het Griekse Revival-huis met 12 kamers 17 jaar lang het huis van Abraham en Mary Lincoln.
Tegenwoordig trekt het huis van de Lincolns jaarlijks honderdduizenden bezoekers. De toegang tot een rondleiding door het huis is gratis, maar kaartjes worden uitgegeven op basis van wie het eerst komt, het eerst maalt en zijn vaak snel vol. Elke tour is beperkt tot 15 personen. Koop een ticket in het Lincoln Home Visitor Center voor de rondleiding van 20-25 minuten door het huis. De eerste tour van de dag begint om 9.00 uur en de laatste tour begint om 16.30 uur.
De tour onder leiding van een ranger gaat over de familie Lincoln in de zeventien jaar dat ze in het huis op de hoek van Eighth Street en Jackson Streets woonden. De opkomst van Abraham Lincoln als succesvol advocaat en politicus, samen met zijn presidentiële campagne in 1860, worden ook onderzocht.

Het museum biedt veel inspirerende tentoonstellingen over het leven van Lincoln, bezoekers zijn onder de indruk van de Treasures Gallery van het museum, met een wisselende tentoonstelling van de kostbaarste artefacten die verband houden met Abraham Lincoln. Veel van de tentoongestelde voorwerpen zijn afkomstig uit de Taper Collection, die vóór de aankoop door de Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation in 2007 werd erkend als de grootste particuliere collectie van Lincolniana ter wereld.
Naast permanente tentoonstellingen maken tijdelijke tentoonstellingen ook andere collecties met betrekking tot het leven en de tijden van Lincoln beschikbaar voor het publiek. De eerste van vele unieke tentoonstellingen werd op 28 april 2007 geopend in de Illinois Gallery van het museum. Mary Todd Lincoln: First Lady of Controversy toonde tientallen artefacten — kleding, sieraden, foto's en brieven — over het huwelijk van Mary Lincoln, haar rol als First Lady van de Verenigde Staten en de emotionele en mentale nood die ze ervoer over de moord op haar man, de dood van haar zoon Willie en haar vervreemding van haar oudste zoon, Robert.
Er is zoveel te zien in het museum dat veel bezoekers terugkomen om sommige delen opnieuw te ervaren en kennis te maken met gebieden die ze misschien over het hoofd hebben gezien. Met tijdelijke tentoonstellingen, speciale programma's, gastsprekers en theaterpresentaties kunnen bezoekers elke keer dat ze door de deuren van het museum lopen iets nieuws verwachten.
