In dit museum is het 'Meisje met de Pareloorring' van Vermeer te zien. Het Koninklijk Kabinet van Schilderijen Mauritshuis herbergt een wereldberoemde kunstcollectie. Het hart van de collectie bestaat uit schilderijen uit de Nederlandse Gouden Eeuw, waaronder werk van topkwaliteit van Vermeer, Rembrandt, Jan Steen en Frans Hals. Maar dat is nog niet alles. De collectie biedt ook een prachtig overzicht van de Nederlandse en Vlaamse schilderkunst van 1400 tot 1800. De tentoongestelde meesterwerken omvatten werk van Rogier van der Weyden, Hans Memling, Rubens, Van Dyck, Cornelis Troost en Adriaen Coorte. Bovendien bezit het museum verschillende topwerken van de 16e-eeuwse Duitse kunstenaars Lucas Cranach de Oudere en Hans Holbein de Jongere. Deze uitzonderlijke collectie is al bijna 200 jaar ondergebracht in het Mauritshuis, een 17e-eeuws paleis aan de Hofvijver in Den Haag.
