Over ons
Uppsala Slott (kasteel van Uppsala), waarvan de bouw begon in 1549 tijdens het bewind van koning Gustav Vasa (ook bekend als Gustav I), speelde gedurende een lange periode een centrale rol in de geschiedenis van zowel Uppsala als Zweden. Veel cruciale gebeurtenissen in de Zweedse geschiedenis vonden hier plaats, zoals de Sture Murders in 1567 (de moord op verschillende edelen die beschuldigd werden van verraad door de geestelijk zieke koning Erik XIV), en het besluit van Gustav II Adolf dat Zweden zou deelnemen aan wat later zou uitgroeien tot de Dertigjarige Oorlog. In de Rikssalen (Hall of State) van het kasteel kondigde Schering Rosenhane op 6 juni 1654 de troonsafstand van koningin Kristina aan.
