Valladolid, de hoofdstad van de Spaanse Autonome Gemeenschap Castilla y Leon, is geografisch gelegen in het midden van het noordelijke plateau. De stad, die een buitengewone monumentale rijkdom herbergt, is vanuit historisch perspectief een van de belangrijkste hoofdsteden van Spanje. Het heeft een van de oudste universiteiten van het land en blijft momenteel uitbreiden, waardoor Valladolid een zeer unieke universitaire sfeer heeft.
Valladolid beschikt over een uitstekend nationaal en internationaal communicatienetwerk: via de lucht, dankzij de luchthaven van Valladolid in Villanubla, en over land, dankzij het netwerk van wegen en snelwegen van en naar de stad waar veel verkeer is. Een andere belangrijke verbinding is de spoorlijn die zowel passagiers als goederen vervoert. Bovendien zal de lancering van de hogesnelheidstrein positieve gevolgen hebben voor de spoorwegdiensten. Wat het zeevervoer betreft, is het een droge haven en biedt service op afstand.
