Playhouse Whitley Bay is een ultramoderne gerenoveerde locatie van £8,5 miljoen die het vlaggenschip is van een groot regeneratieproject dat deze beroemde kustplaats nieuw leven inblaast. Het werd geopend in september 2009 en beschikt over een elegante nieuwe glazen foyer, faciliteiten aan de voorkant, een kassa en barfaciliteiten; daarnaast beschikt het ook over een opnieuw ontworpen auditorium, een nieuwe bedrijfsruimte en koorzalen. Het theater heeft een lange geschiedenis en is een belangrijk onderdeel geweest van het leven van veel mensen die in de stad wonen en deze bezoeken. De locatie beschikt over 638 luxe zitplaatsen in het auditorium, een suite met 10 zitplaatsen voor bedrijven en een eigentijdse uitstraling van de bars en loungeruimte, die ook een prachtig uitzicht op zee bieden. De locatie is beschikbaar voor een breed scala aan activiteiten, zoals evenementen voor maatschappelijke organisaties, commerciële shows, privéfeesten, feesten/vieringen en conferenties met expositieruimte.
