Die schönste Buchhandlung der Welt befand sich in der Carmelitas-Straße in der Nähe von Torre dos Clérigos. Das Außengebäude sticht hervor, aber im Inneren erobert Lello's seine Besucher. Der Parkett-Narr besteht aus den beiden Stockwerken, die durch eine sehr lange und geschwungene rote Treppe miteinander verbunden sind. Lello hat mehr als 120.000 Bücher, die diesen Raum zu einem wahren Leckerbissen für alle Buchliebhaber machen. Es gibt Titel für jeden Geschmack und in mehreren Sprachen. Als eine der ältesten Buchhandlungen Portugals ist Lello seit 1881 in Porto ansässig. Das Unternehmen geht auf die Gründung der Livraria Internacional de Ernesto Chardron im Jahr 1869 in der Clérigos Street zurück.

Der Clérigos-Turm, ein Barockdenkmal, ist zu einem der wichtigsten Symbole in Porto geworden. Es hat sechs Stockwerke, 240 Stufen und 76 Meter. Der vom italienischen Architekten Nicolau Nasoni entworfene Bau begann 1754 und endete erst 1763. Zu dieser Zeit war der Turm der höchste, der jemals in Portugal gebaut wurde, und auch der höchste in Europa. Er übertraf Notre-Dame und Saint-Sulpice in Paris. Wenn wir uns der Innenstadt von Porto nähern, ist sie von überall sichtbar. 1910 zum Nationaldenkmal ernannt, war er mehr als ein Glockenturm: Er diente auch als Signal für die Seefahrer, als Telegraph, als Stadtuhr von Porto und diente sogar als strategischer Punkt für militärische und politische Schlachten. Als Visitenkarte von Porto ist diese Attraktion ein Muss, insbesondere für diejenigen, die alle Stufen hinaufsteigen möchten, um den herrlichen Panoramablick über die Stadt und den Fluss zu genießen.
