A historic fort located in the city of Prague, Czech Republic. It was built, probably in the 10th century, on a hill over the Vltava River. Situated within the castle is the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul, as well as the Vyšehrad Cemetery, containing the remains of many famous people from Czech history, among them Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Karel Čapek, and Alphonse Mucha. It also contains one of Prague's oldest surviving buildings, the Rotunda of St Martin from the 11th century. The oldest buildings in Prague are located within Prague Castle. The Basilica St. Martin, which was built from 900-950, and the Church of the Virgin Mary, which was built in the year 870. Local legend holds that Vyšehrad was the location of the first settlement which later became Prague, though thus far this claim remains unsubstantiated.

National Museum

The National Museum was established as a “national museum” in 1818 by the ceremonial declaration of the of aristocracy on 15th April. The collections were first gathered in the minority Monastery of St. Jakub and in private flats. Šternberg Palace at Hradčany became the first permanent headquarters of the Museum in 1819, partially lent for this purpose by the Society of Patriotic Friends of Art. Today it is one of the National Gallery buildings.Currently the bulding is under reconstruction and the collections can be seen in the new building in Vinohradská street, no.1.

Getting Here

GPS: 50.062029, 14.428575 from Václav Havel Airport: As PCC lies in the centre of the city it is very easy to use the public trasport which is quite sufficient. Bus 119 goes to Nádraží Veleslavín - a green line undreground station. Take the underground to the Museum station and change for red line direction to Háje. PCC is on the Vyšehrad stop. It takes about 52 minutes. For train travellers it is even easier. Take red line A in the underground and get off at Vyšehrad in 5 minutes.

The Prague Congress Centre is one of the largest and best-equipped European centers. The international Prague-Ruzyne airport is 18 km from the Prague Congress Centre. The Prague Congress Centre has 70 meeting rooms including 20 halls and 50 salons with a capacity from 12 to 2 764 persons & total capacity up to 10 000 persons. The exhibition areas is 13 000 m2. Its range of conference, banquet and exhibition areas, including the assurance of accompanying services, makes it one of the largest and most comprehensive suppliers of these services and not only on the Czech market. The Prague Congress Centre underwent extensive reconstruction and modernization in 2017, during which the premises, the technical background, the digital navigation system and Wi-Fi infrastructure were modernized.
