Beacon Fell Country Park was designed in 1970, making it one of the oldest country parks in England.
Located only 10 miles outside of Preston city centre, signposted from Garstang and Longridge, Beacon Fell is a wildlife haven of woodland, moorland and farmland. The habitats attract a mix of animals, from rabbits and hare to roe deer and stout. There are even as many as 11 species of dragonflies and damselflies, which can be seen hovering over ponds during the summer months.
Beacon Fell's views across the Forest of Bowland, from the 266m summit, attract both individuals and families looking for adventure outdoors. The country park's well-maintained paths, stunning views, and relaxed picnic areas make the experience all that more special. Whether before or after your ramble, there is also a visitor centre and café to pay a visit to. And, If you're after something different or engaging for children, make sure to follow the sculpture trail, which features a number of carved wooden animals.
