The Alamodome opened on May 15, 1993 at a cost of approximately $186 million. It is owned and operated by the City of San Antonio and currently home to the UTSA Roadrunner football team. It is the preferred venue for many trade shows, conventions and concerts such as Monster Jam, Disney on Ice, and the Valero Alamo Bowl. George Strait played a concert in the Alamodome in June of 2013 setting an all time attendance record for the largest concert ever played in San Antonio; the attendance was 73,086 people.
