Tipi & Bob’s Waterfront Lodge is situated in Puriri Bay on Great Barrier Island from which it commands unobstructed views across the entire harbour and out to the northern tip of the Cormandel. Just off the Lodge’s boat ramp dolphins come close inshore to the delight of onlookers and photographers. A five minute walk from there brings one to the Stonewall Store, Post shop and Wild Rose Café. Continue along the shade dappled road a couple minutes further to the beach at Gooseberry Flat for good swimming and sunbathing. It has six superb waterfront accommodation units, that are self contained & serviced. Qualmark three stars plus. With a fully licensed restaurant and bar or alfresco dining with panoramic sea views, specializing in steak and fresh local seafood. For a more casual atmosphere it has a bistro bar serving light meals. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great Barrier Island is a popular location for meetings and conferences owing to its proximity to Auckland, yet its seeming remoteness of unspoilt beaches and verdant hillsides.
